Evelyn Maxine Hodgson Robinson

Evelyn Maxine Hodgson Robinson, 95, of Borger passed away Sunday, November 8, 2009.
Mrs. Robinson was born Friday, October 23, 1914 in Van Buren, In, to Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Hodgson. She was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church of Borger. Paul and Jo Ann Robinson and Caroline Alexander all of Borger, TX survive her. Also, Joyce Gorham of Amarillo, TX and Dorothy Howard of Manteca, CA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband “Babe” Robinson in 1986 and her second husband, Charles Murphy in 2001. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Ethel Mae Ridgley and twins, Roy James Hodgson born September 14, 1904, who died April 6, 1908 and Ruth Delane Hodgson born September 14, 1904, stillborn.
Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Hodgson moved to Borger, TX in the month of November 1926. She attended Borger schools. She was 12 years old at the time.
On November 14, 1931 at Guymon, OK, Maxine (know as by her friends) married Maurice Neil “Babe” Robinson. “Babe” was associated with his brothers, Leon, Forrest, Paul and Claude, and they were known as the J.A. Robinson Trucking Co., located in Borger with a subsidiary in Perryton, TX, and also one in Midland, TX known only as Robinson Brothers Drilling Co. The Borger and Perryton companies sold out in 1973, and the Midland company in 1974.
After 55 years in Borger, and upon selling their business, they moved to Mesa, AZ in 1980. “Babe” and Maxine bought a motor home and spent time living between Borger and Mesa. While living in Borger, “Babe” and Maxine were active in the Masonic Lodge, and the Shrine Association. They were also active in Square Dancing, and the Arthur Murry Dance Club. They traveled extensively and took cruises. In 1980, they sold their Borger home and made Mesa their permanent home. “Babe” died at Mesa on June 18, 1986. They were married 56 years and no children were born to the union.
Maxine met Charles Murphy (a retired Ohio farmer) at Mesa, AZ, and they were married June 11, 1994 at Wauseon, OH. Mr. Murphy died January 10, 2001, at Mesa. Maxine returned to Borger in 2003 and made her home with Paul and Jo Ann Robinson. Later she resided at Borger Healthcare Center till her death.
Services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Brown’s Chapel Of The Fountains in Borger with Rev. Robert Hensley of Bunavista Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, TX.
Memorials may be made to Cal Farley Boy’s Ranch.
